580 Split - Print journal with some items also online. Accepts poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and art. Call for submissions runs a certain time period and must be snail mailed.
The Adirondack Review - Online magazine accepting poetry, fiction, artwork, photography, interviews, articles, book reviews, and film reviews on a continuing basis. Accepts online submissions.
Alaska Quarterly Review – Print publication accepting fiction, short plays, poetry, and literary non-fiction in traditional and experimental styles. Unsolicited work is read between August 15 and May 15. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Beginnings – A Magazine for Beginning Writers – Print magazine published 3 times a year. Accepts fiction and poetry on an ongoing basis. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Black Warrior Review – Print magazine accepting poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art. Submissions must be snail mailed.
The Carolina Quarterly – Print magazine that also publishes some work online. Accepts poetry, fiction, nonfiction, book reviews, and graphic art. Submissions must be snail mailed and are not accepted in May, June, July, or August.
Carve Magazine – Online magazine accepting only literary fiction and cover art. Accepts non-contest and contest submissions; contest submissions are subject to an entry fee. No non-contest submissions are being read until May 15, 2006. Submissions are accepted via the website and by snail mail.
Chicago Review – Print magazine accepting poetry, fiction, and book reviews on an ongoing basis. All submissions must be snail mailed.
Dislocate – Print magazine accepting fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Submissions are only accepted in certain windows. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Ducts – Online magazine accepting art, essays, fiction, humor, poetry, profiles, reviews, stage, and memoirs. Submissions accepted January through August. Submissions accepted via email.

The Massachusetts Review – Print magazine with some items online accepting articles, essays, fiction, and poetry. Do not send poetry or fiction from June 1 – October1. Non-fiction is read year round. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Now & Then – The Appalachian Magazine – Accepts fiction and non-fiction including news, feature articles, interviews, personal essays, reviews, short stores, poems, photos, photo essays, line art, and graphic illustrations focusing on the Appalachian region. Check for current themes before submitting. Online submission suggested.
The Paris Review – Print magazine with selections online accepting fiction and poetry on an ongoing basis. Submissions must be snail mailed.
The Pedestal Magazine – Online bi-monthly magazine accepting poetry, fiction, flash fiction, non-fiction, book reviews, and interviews. Submission schedule varies, check website. Online submission.
Pleiades: A journal of New Writing – Print magazine with selections posted online accepting fiction, poetry, essays, and reviews on an on-going basis. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Potomac Review – Print magazine accepting poetry, prose, art and photography “that are expressions and voices…of the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.” Submissions accepted Septebmer 1 – May 1. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Prism International – Print magazine accepting short fiction, poetry, translation, creative nonfiction, and drama on an ongoing basis. Submissions must be snail mailed. (Canadian).
River Styx – Print magazine accepting poetry, prose and art. Submissions accepted May through November and must be snail mailed.
Rosebud Magazine – Print magazine accepting poetry and prose on an ongoing basis. Must be snail mailed with a $1 fee.
Small Spiral Notebook – Print and online magazine accepting stories, essays, and poems. Reading period for print version varies, check the site. Reading period for the online version is accepted year round. Print submissions must be snail mailed. Online submissions can be sent electronically.
Southern Review – Print magazine with features online accepting poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art. Submissions are not accepted in June, July, or August and must be snail mailed.
Spire Press – Print magazine accepting poetry, essays, stories, artwork, and creative nonfiction. Submissions should be emailed.
The Sun – Print magazine accepting essays, interviews, fiction, and poetry on an ongoing basis. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Tin House – Print magazine with excerpts online accepting fiction, nonfiction, poetry, interviews, profiles, and food and drink writing. Issues are themed with varied deadlines. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Witness – Print magazine with features online. Publishes one issue per year focused on a topic of wide social/political concern. Submissions for the 2006 issue “Exile in America” will be accepted January 1 – June 1. Submissions must be snail mailed.
Zoetrope All-Story – Print magazine with some stories online. Accpts short stores, one-act plays, and poetry. Submissions are not accepted June 1 – August 31 and are accepted via snail mail or through an online forum.
