I had a Russian boyfriend a few years ago. He was very stereotypically Russian in that he loved to drink and had a total disregard for authority/responsibility (I'm making him sound quite a catch I know). Having said that, he was a very generous person and surprisingly chivalrous and traditional on the whole dating scene.

Despite having a reasonable salary, my ex was not interested in his appearance, notably he had no qualms wearing the same clothes for days in a row. I'm not suggesting all Russians are unhygienic (the women often dress up to the nines) but their fashion is on the hole, slightly "retrospective"... The men seem particularly fond of wearing y-fronts unfortunately.

Like a lot of Polish people I've met, Russians are very matter of fact but this is pretty refreshing to be honest.
