Haunted! The Movie!

Dude, HBO. They can show anything they want. Also Watchmen was literally a shot for shot adaption, so all the faults of the book are there in the movie. If done right you can adapt any original source you want.

Watchmen is a perfect example of why you should NEVER adapt one type of art directly into another. In Wolverine, as another example, I understand the character comes from a comic book, but the action sequences and shots in a comic book DO NOT look good in a real world movie adaptation. Why's he running with his claws slashing the walls on either side? I can see how that'd look cool in a still cartoon frame, but it's absolutely lame in the movie. The pose Gambit makes when he slams down to make a crater with his pole-like weapon (ahem) is very comic book-like, but it looks so stupid on-screen. Watchmen was just an okay movie because, I'm sorry, but comic books and movies are completely different arts whose techniques should be separate.

Spider-Man 2 could've been better without that, "Nooooooooooo!" Dock Ock makes in the emergency room. It makes for a cool still, but ugh, they butchered that scene with that last shot.

Too many scenes seem to be shot these days with the "director" thinking, "This'll look sooo cool in the trailer!" It's bullshit.

I never finished that awful Watchmen movie but there's no way it's shot for shot.

HBO makes True blood, which is kinda detailed. And they made this show, that's way more gross; Sex and the City. I think they could do Haunted pretty good.

You should not really think of a movie adaption as the same thing as the original, whether it's a book or a comic. It will make the movie more watchable. Only rarely is a movie anywhere close to a book, like everyone here knows. I think of it as separate interpretations of the same event, that has nothing to do with each other I.

I suppose taking the book and the movie (or mini-series or whatever) as two separate things is the right way of looking at it but it's kinda hard if you have the book in your head. Personally i can't really help but compare things. It works both ways too, sometimes if i watch a film and then read the book after it i don't always enjoy the book as much as i might have if i'd read it beforehand.

It's really hard and you still get pissed of if they change the ending of the movie and stuff like that.
Often I enjoy watching the movie before reading the book. I feel that way, the movie gets credit where credit is due, and the book will almost always be better, only if you've watched he movie first, you get some stuff for free -settings, character looks etc. - for good and for bad.

It's like, i grew up watching Rob Reiner's film of Stephen King's Misery and i've always loved it. One of my favourite fims now i think about it. I read the book for the first time recently and loved that too but i'd choose the film over the book because i see it as one of the funniest films i've ever seen, i could never praise Kathy Bates enough, and while the book obviously has a sense of humour it's just so dark and brutal and insane in comparison. That might sound stupid but the way i see it is Paul Sheldon is completely terrified of Annie Wilkes throughout the book, in the book she's terrifying from the start whereas in the film she starts out kinda sweet and kind and his fear and desperation builds through the film. The hobbling scene isn't as crazy in the film but the way Paul gives her the finger from the window afterwards is just perfect. He would never have done that in the book because he's shit-scared and that's why the film is better for me. I don't know what any of this means, i'm just a bit smashed. I had a point that was related to this thread but i can't remember what it was. Should have started a new thread really but fuck it... "HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKA-DOODEE CAR!!!" Hiccup.

It was a terrible movie by all means.

As I was reading "Haunted" I thought to myself how great of a movie that book would make. But I think that's as far as it should go - a thought. It would be too difficult, like everyone has said before, to capture everything on screen.

Definatley a good one to think about though! If it was possible it would probably turn out pretty damn good.

If they ever make Haunted into a movie, I think every character for the framing device story should be played by Chuck Palahniuk.

Hi everyone, This is leo and i am new in this fourm. The movie Haunted is the great movie. I like it very much. Normal Screen you can't enjoy so much, but,on the 3D it look like reality and you enjoy so much. I like so much Haunted on 3D.

The IMAX version was a bit much I thought.

I don't miss this guy at all.

I came in here with an opinion, but now I'm just curious where this imax with the 3d haunted is, maybe the rest of the world is just as twisted as us, there just too lazy too read... just a though

quit moaning - watchmen was excellent - fighting, tits, comic stuff! - what is the matter with you?

and anything to do with chuck hitting the big screen will definitely have you waiting outside with your ticket money in your hand

Watchmen the movie sucked aside from the visual translation which was excellent. If you haven't read the graphic novel you should because it has way more depth than the movie than tits, fighting, and comic stuff. Also the novel ending is way better than the movie ending in my opinion and don't get me started on the CGI sex scene which may be the worst sex scene running in second place after Halle Berry smothered in Billy Bob Thorton's hairy fat ass in Monster's Ball. Had they not given her the golden globe for that movie they should have mercy killed her at the very least for having to shoot that 15 min hot mess of a scene with Billy Bob.

There is NO way this would make a good movie. The only way I could possibly see this made if
1. If it was 3-4 hours long
2. Nc-17 rating
3. It would have to b a "natural born killer" style movie

I just think they would ruin the Rep of a great book with a movie version.

But I do like the idea of this being a mini series. HBO is always pushing the limits and there's a version of GUTS on 1000 ways to die. Not very graphic but still...
