I love shorts...Cillian Murphy plays in some of my favorites, this one especially:

And I really like some of the shorts Pixar/Disney come out with as well. The one in "Up" made me cry!

what a thread idea stealer. 
some of my favourite shorts are in the thread i just started. but for the common thread stealer:
these four are my favourites from the last two years of Tropfest (an aussie short filmem festivl/competition). all of these made me cry. two from laughter. two from an overwhelming nature of emotions.

Someone should post a link to some of Baris' films. I always liked those.
My favorite, though, not counting Pixar.
It looks like i can't find the proper version for free online with subtitles, so i'm giving you a redubbed, rescored version because, well, the internet is full of muckery. And this will at least allow you to understand what's happening. Too, if this looks familiar, it's because it was the inspiration for Twelve Monkeys by Terry Gilliam.
It's animated but this is pretty good.

Honestly, I haven't watched it with audio on yet and its still one of my favorite things ever. I was at a bar once where the music was too loud so I couldn't have any conversations, but this was playing on loop on a TV on the wall above my friends' heads, and I watched it probably 3 and a half times without realizing how much time had gone by.
