I think we need another gift exchange to tide us over until the next Secret Santa. To keep it accessible, this gift exchange has constraints so everyone can participate regardless of cash.
The gift package constraints are:
-A book (Do research and get your person a book you think they will like. You don't have to buy it new, it can be from your own collection.)
-Candy. Any kind, but best if it was invented or is made in your state/province/village. -A hand written note/card/poster/something you made.
-Something random from your home.
-A condiment. Any kind, but best if it was invented or is made in your state/province/village.
DATES:
SIGN UP BY MAY 1!
SHIP BY MAY 17!
so, does it have to contain ALL those things? Or just some of those things?
I'll do it!

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
no international please. sorry.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
I will make up for anyone that gets burned so I can keep it totally random!
I'll do it!
ALL!
i'm raising my eyebrows at Condiment, but ok.....

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
It can be a bottle of hot sauce, a packet of relish that you snag from 7/11...it's fun because it's ridiculous. Make sure your person does not hate mustard!
I'm in. Don't think I can afford overseas, though.

I'm totally in. I can ship overseas.

pretty sure i'm gonna be in on this one. obviously interational isn't really a choice i can choose.
this'll be like a birthday present for me! yayyy!
The cult is contributing a $10 US stipend for international shipping. That means if you ship international, we'll send you a check for $10 or send $10 to you via Paypal. It's not much when converted to Eruos, or whatever the fuck Australians use (kangaroo horns?), but lets get down and international!
Ok then. I'm down for that!
Also, that is very generous and awesome. Thanks Mirka!

so if I say I'll do international, the cult will pay for it?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
You're killing me. Read what I wrote!
the cult will pay 10 bucks for it, yo!
and, Mirka, Kangaroo Horns? hahahahah!

Oh crap! Ostrich eggs??
wombat turds.
Thank you, Chris. I take it you're in?

I DID. I WAS ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION. JESUS.

No, sorry to be a tease. I'd like to, but it's just not good for me at the moment.
I'm in Mirka

I'm in.
International works too.

I'm SO in!
But this is kind of weird... I have this like... not phobia exactly, but ... problem... with condiments. They just creep me out a bit. Can I request to opt out of sending/receiving the condiment part? If not, I'll swallow my issue and just deal with it, but... yeah.

Great, Clara, glad that you are in!
Can you deal with sugar or salt? Because you could send someone Canadian sugar which might look different than ours or Aussie sugar etc. But I will make a note to your giver to be careful and kind with the condiment part. Or maybe to send you more candy instead?
Cool?

Oh yeah, sugar works for sure! I didn't think of that as a condiment. In fact I just thought up a great kind of sugar to send... so nevermind!
Someone gave me a can of Spam as a gag gift. I suppose it could be something random from my home OR a condiment! I think people season food with it, right?
I promise NOT to send goose lard if you are my gift recipient!

Great! I will still alert the person that gets you to be VERY cautious and to be creative with innocuous condiments like salt, pepper, sugar. How about dried herb seasonings?
Is it wet condiments that freak you out like ketchup and mustard?
IM IN! I lamost missd this but Im in!
oh, Derek is in! He sends wonderful packages! Yay, Derek.
I'm in. I would prefer not to do international because I do not know how.
Also, are our recipients going to know who we are and vice versa? I am still new here and don't know a lot of you that well, so it will be hard for me to figure out exactly what would be funny vs. what would offend, so my package might be on the lame side to be safe.

No, it will be a total surprise for you and your recipient. You won't be matched as an exchange. Say you get me, and Derek gets you, like that.
When I give you your name, you should do a little search on their posts and try to gauge them and tailor your gift for them. This should not feel like pressure! This is a super fun way to get to know a fellow member a little better.
I'll do it! Gonna have to stick to national, if it's not a problem though. I am currently unemployed so I'd like to keep the spending down, because I probably will spend at least a couple bucks on the items. This sounds like fun.

Awesome, I'm so glad people are joining! This is going to be fun!
I guess I'll do it too. No international though.
Coolio
I'd love to do this! I know I'm still pretty new, but I don't mind delving into the forums a bit more thoroughly. And as far as international goes, I think I can swing it. I'm about to get a decent paycheck that I could use toward it if needed.

I'm in! Internation or otherwise is fine by me.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Fano and Levi sadden me as they will not do international.
Perhaps when Secret Santa rolls around.
Is it that much more expensive to ship to Canada?

Yeah, it's the wet ones. Mustard, mayo, ketchup especially. Shudder. I had to interview this girl for a job and it somehow came up that she put ketchup on EVERYTHING and she just kept describing the things she put it on and I had to leave the room. Ugh, so gross.
Actually, with the Cult's $10 shipping stipend, shipping to Canada would be cheaper than shipping domestically.
I'll do this!
I'm in too. I've never participated in something like this, so I want to try it out.
i'll do international what with the cult paying and all.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
huh? The cult is paying?
I'll do international.
No need to reimburse me. It's cool. I figure I can afford to do something for somebody else. I have the money. And I waste too much on myself.

Late to say: I can do international if Cult-subsidized.

Oh me! Also, if I might make a request, could I please be paired up with someone who's known for following through? I've been burned a couple times with exchanges and I LOVE sending stuff (I just sent Jane a cajun care package last week), so I'd really like to fully participate. :]
Edit - International is what, like between $10-$15? I could swing that.
