So last week my boyfriend came home with a 2nd hand slimline Playstation2 (£20).

Initially I was cross as we were going to buy a Wii, but upon researching, I was pleased to read that they still make some Playstation2 games, being the most successful selling console of all time...or whatever.

Anyway, seeing as the Playstation2's here to stay, if anyone's got any game or gadget recommendations let me know. I generally like games where I can relieve my anger management problem.

So far we've bought:

  • Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2
  • Time Crisis 2
  • My boyfriend also bought some boring car game I'll probably never touch...

I also like more light-hearted stuff and definitely intend to buy The Sims...

Shadow of the Colossus, which is really the only game you need to play. Ico, by the same developer is pretty amazing too.

The Timesplitters games are great and really fun when playing with friends and/or your BF. Tons of fun characters and game-modes and it even has a map maker. Future Perfect, the third and last game (so far), is my favorite.

Another good game is the Hitman series, with Blood Money being the best. it's mostly stealth-based but it doesn't have to be. You can either sneak in and take your your target and only your target, or burst in with a shotgun and kill everybody. Your choice.

And if you really need to relieve some stress and work out those anger management issues... there's always Manhunt. This game is brutal, so much so that they censored the sequel. Like Hitman, it's stealth-based and that's the only option you have since your guy isn't tough enough to go toe-to-toe with more than one dude so you pretty much have to sneak around and take them out one by one. It's basically a slasher-film simulator.

Fur Fighters is a personal favorite of mine. Still a shooter but a lot more light-hearted then all my other suggestions. You still have guns and shoot things, but the things you're mostly shooting are stuffed bears you bleed stuffing.

Does it stream Netflix like the Wii? That's the important question.

I'm buying a refurbished Slimline PS2 in a week or so, because it has my four favorite games:

The Godfather Game, which has so much to enjoy. There's the storyline that follows the first film. There's an open-ended New York City, where you get to take down rival families, rob banks, blow up buildings, extort businesses, and gradually earn respect from the civilians, that they get out of your way, stop their car when you cross the street, and show their respect.

Hitman Blood Money, the best of the series, though "Contracts" is darker and therefore fun in that sense, and "Silent Assassin" has some of the best levels in the series. Still, Blood Money has the best gameplay and the most enjoyable possibilities for "accidents."

For rough days where you want to go berserk, there's the all-shooting, "gun-porn" all-out-war, blow stuff up, Black:

And then, there's the guerrilla warfare, lead a team into battle game, Freedom Fighters:

My favorites were Spider-Man 2 and Red Dead Revolver (That's right, I was an original fan, and I've yet to freakin' play the supposedly infinitely better sequel. Where're my hipster glasses?).

It's only a sequel in that it has "red dead" in the name.

It's not related. (swipes hipster glasses and put them on himself)

No, only the PS3 does that.

OT, but the Xbox360 also does. I've yet to explore that though; I have a vendetta against Netflix.

Netflix is a million dollar idea. Now it will never NOT exist.

It's not a sequel?? But... chuh... guh... how can that be? Was it trying to ride the minimal popularity of Revolver? Or is it a sequel game, but not a sequel in story? Cuz that I knew.

Basically, Read Dead Revolver was developed by Capcom and the project dropped. Rockstar bought the game, then cleaned it up and released it.

So really, only a portion of it is a Rockstar game. Which is probably why it didn't feel like GTA with horses.

Since they owned the IP, it made sense for them to use it for Redemption. But really they games have very little in common other than both being westerns.

The term you typically throw around for stuff like this is "spiritual successor", not sequel.

Edible underwear was a million dollar idea.

Netflix were among the earliest proponents of the pop-up ad.

Fuck them right to death.

devil may cry, max payne, the jak and daxter series, the grand theft auto series, resident evil 4 and code veronica, metal gear solid 2 and three are really good and man hunt is a good one to let off some steam as well. Also final fantasy 7, 8 and 9 are really good rpgs for the ps1

Every time I think of Shadow of Colossus, I think of Reign over me and makes me want to buy a gas motor scooter.
