My Rant Tattoo
Just finished it today and snapped this pic before I had the bandage put on. It's from my phone so the quality isn't too great, but I could upload a better one once it heals over.

Nice!
Holy shit. Sorry, broski, but that tat's too amazing for one person! I'm getting it, but more towards the heart itself.
That's absolutely fantastic! I'm more than a little bit jealous...
That's one gorgeous tattoo. Congrats!
her very lifestyle is a sin
Fair play, thats a fucking awesome tattoo. Who's the artist(graphic company) who did that cover anyway?
That's damn cool.
Here's a link with info. The designer is Rodrigo Corral. He's done a lot of Palahniuk's covers. He's done a lot others, too. See here.
I would have too, but I have other tattoos in my chest area so it wouldn't fit properly (photoshopped them out to not take anything away from this one). But I think it still flows well with that area of my body too.
Hell yeah! I don't have any tattoos yet, but I've got four planned out. I don't plan on getting too many tattoos in my lifetime. More of the Russian Mafia style where each tattoo tells a story. I don't know if it's just me, but I think getting a tattoo for the sake of it and/or bc it just looks cool is dumb. I think people need reason behind the ink.
Rant was always one of my favorite covers. Great tattoo.
And is that an American Psycho reference I spot in your avatar?
every one smiles with that invisible gun to their head,
Hahaha love the movie, but never read the book. I guess you mean book bc I can't see anyone who has that refence anywhere in this forum. Mine's from Repo, but I guess I should change it to something better.
"This is not an exit" is from American Psycho, the book.
There's a book? I always thought those adaptations of film-to-book were kind of subpar.
I apologize then. Would you say it's better than the movie?
That made me laugh. My friend and I were just having this conversation at B&N today. I could sense some people in the area couldn't catch onto the sarcasm.
And the film in comparison to the book... I thought Christian Bale did a good take on Patrick Bateman, but overall the book is easily better than the film IMO.
All right, for me to take that as 100% valid, I have to ask: Did you find Fight Club the movie to be better or worse than the book and V for Vendetta the movie better or worse than the graphic novel, if you've read it?
The book was better. But in a way I'd have to say the film helped out the book. Edward Norton has been my favorite actor for as long as I can remember and being able to picture his voice narrating the book made it that much better. And I've never read the V for Vendetta graphic novel.

I think they did the best they could with the movie, really. The book had so much description-based text that it didn't really have the same effect. Unless you're into 80's fashion or music, you wouldn't spot most of it once translated into film. There was so much violence in the book that wouldn't allow the movie to keep it's R-rating, not to mention allow the audience to keep down their snacks...
Christian Bale did an awesome job. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was excellent, too. Judged while objectively separated, I find them equally entertaining.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Then I don't know if I can find your opinion valid bc I felt as though the book was dry compared to the book. David Flincher seemes to juggle Chuck's thoughts more easily throughout the movie keeping you more in tuned while with the book I was just counting the pages, but it wasn't bad. V for Vendetta was either really retarded or too complex for me to understand where as in the movie there was a simple plot carried with strong ideals. While I'm on the topic, I thought Survivor, up until the last 1/3 of the book, sucked. Rant and Invisible Monsters, however, are amazing. I'll read American Psycho anyway.
My opinion towards American Psycho (book vs. film) is biased though. In one of my literature classes it was one of the books we went over. Spending 3 weeks on it in detail, discussing and dissecting the text for multiple hours really made me realize parts of the book that I had questions about or looked over in reading it on my own. So it's hard for me to look at the book and then turn around and say the film is up to par with it, although I will agree that they did the best they could with the movie.
As for Fight Club, both the film and book are great in their own ways. You're definitely right when you say Fincher was able carry Chuck's thoughts, even Chuck himself liked the ending in the movie better than the book (as did I). Maybe it's just me but I happened to read the book before I ever saw the movie, so I have always preferred the book.
And I would have to agree with your last statement (the whole paragraph too) bc I saw the movie before I read the book so I always preferred the movie. What are the odds that the books, Fight Club and V for Vendetta, had violent messages while the movies had more peaceful, yet still violent, solutions? V for Vendetta, the graphic novel, ends with people killing people, but the movies have more of a messianic view on the protagonists who caused the chaos.
I just noticed this, but your line "Every living creature on earth dies alone"...is that directed in relation to Donnie Darko?
Flincher.
Man, I hope that's intentional.

Fincher*
Of course. Donnie Darko is one of the best films I've ever seen.
I typed a long-winded response about my hatred for Richard Kellya and some of the other stuff in here, but I'm late for work and have decided to leave the Humans alone for now.
I don't hate the guy. I just agree with this journalist of some article I read once in that Donnie Darko was a fluke and he fails as a director. I still want to see Southland Tales though.
Southland tales was horrible. No matter how bad a movie is, I usually have to watch the whole thing. I couldn't do it.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
So I've heard, but I still want to see for myself.
Finally!!, Another Palahniuk tattoo that I haven't seen! Great job guy, talented artist too no doubt. Still you should never cover up the other tatts, it's all part of the grand design right? Still, not too shabby at all, how many hours friend?
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
All in all it took just under 10 hours, between 3 sessions. First step was getting a grey outline which was 3. Then the black, blues, and greens were added which was right at 3.5 hours. And finally the reds, pinks, and yellows were included which was another 3. It was the detail that took so long.
Hey, oncewelosteve..., you need to put you avatar in this forum so we can see your tattoo better.
Wow 10 hours! Right on the ol' sternum too eh? Sitting down for the third time I bet you were thinkin.. "Not this shit agian!" lol..Again though, very nice detail, great colour theory, SOLID tatt, from one enthusiast to another
My avatar? How do I do that exactly?
I do have it posted just a couple down the list on Fan Submissions though...

I'll do you one better and just post the picture for him.

You're welcome.

In all fairness, I've never seen him in any other thread that I was in and thank you. That tattoo looks AWESOME! I felt all caps wasn't enough emphasis. Looks like if I get a CP tat that I'm going to have to really try to make mine just as amazing. I wound up liking Invisible Monsters more than Rant, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

You could say that again.

In all fairness, Frank, He's never seen him in any other thread that he was in and thanks him. He felt that tattoo looks AWESOME*! He felt all caps wasn't enough emphasis**. I love how most of the people in Cult who are dicks are actually clever and/or funny. Hahaha you hebrew.
Nice edit nickotinefiend.

Was I included in the "most of the people"?
Yes, Monkey.
Hebrew and shebrew is the P.C. term for the jewish community. I had a feeling someone would take it offensively if I said 'jew.'
Where are you from? Why am I Jewish? Am I Jewish?
Any metropolitan city, bc you are, and yes.
Man you guys on here are a riot...nickotine fiend thank you for the complement bro!, Glad you like it I'm really quite proud of it, and I would like to point out that as far as I know, I'm the only one who has accredited Chuck visibly in my tattoo, so props to me!, lol j/k.....although I'm going to have to agree that there is an abundance of pretentiousness on many of this sites postings. While some come across as witty and humorous, many still just sound like total assholes who seem to think their opinion is somehow more validated and important than others. Correcting someone or informing them they have their facts misconstrued is one thing, being an over opinionated deuche is another....all of which of course, is 'my opinion' as well, lol, so fuck off

I.e. Randomstranger. I don't think I've seen a post where he wasn't condescending to other users over matters where he didn't prove to have any intellect on whether he does or not.
Ah well you know, not even just him he was just the example this time. As I'm expecting some kind of belittlement from Monkey, relax guy, you are obviously smart, so why not be nice too! :0, It's easier anyway
By the way, do you have a pic of with the other tattoos not shopped out? My tatt artist was curious as was I.

An 11 year fan, owner of ALL of Chucks books, one of which is a personally signed Fight Club hardcover complementing my tatt, is a "new kid"
condescending indeed 6er
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
I don't recall saying anyone was "mean." I said condescending and most of us are.
Deuche does not = douche.

no way dude. no fucking way.
